What is Transparent Exterior Wall Waterproofing?
What is Transparent Exterior Wall Waterproofing?
Transparent Exterior Wall Waterproofing is a clear, water-based or silicone-based coating/sealant that forms an invisible protective barrier on exterior walls. It prevents water penetration while preserving the original color and texture of the surface.
What are the main product features of transparent exterior wall waterproofing?
What are the main product features of transparent exterior wall waterproofing?
Key features include: complete transparency (no color change), excellent waterproofing and low water absorption, high elasticity for micro-crack bridging (
Does transparent exterior wall waterproofing change the appearance of the wall?
Does transparent exterior wall waterproofing change the appearance of the wall?
No. After curing, it remains completely transparent and invisible. It does not alter the original color, texture or decorative finish of concrete, brick, stone, tiles or painted surfaces.
Is transparent exterior wall waterproofing breathable?
Is transparent exterior wall waterproofing breathable?
Yes. Most high-quality formulations are vapor-permeable. They block liquid water while allowing moisture vapor inside the wall to escape, reducing the risk of blistering, peeling or trapped dampness.
What surfaces can transparent exterior wall waterproofing be applied to?
What surfaces can transparent exterior wall waterproofing be applied to?
Suitable for cement-sand plaster, concrete, brick walls, natural stone, decorative stone, real stone paint, tile joints, ceramic tiles and other porous mineral surfaces. Ideal for exterior wall leakage repair and protection.
How long does transparent exterior wall waterproofing last?
How long does transparent exterior wall waterproofing last?
Depending on product type, climate and application quality, it typically provides effective protection for 5–10 years or longer. UV stabilizers and weather-resistant formulas enhance durability in harsh outdoor conditions.
How do I prepare the surface before applying transparent exterior wall waterproofing?
How do I prepare the surface before applying transparent exterior wall waterproofing?
Thoroughly clean the wall: remove dust, oil, algae, loose particles and dirt. Repair cracks or holes larger than 0.5 mm with mortar or sealant. Ensure the substrate is sound, flat, clean and completely dry.
What is the step-by-step application process for transparent exterior wall waterproofing?
What is the step-by-step application process for transparent exterior wall waterproofing?
1. Stir the product gently (do not dilute with water unless specified). 2. Apply first coat with brush, roller or spray (horizontal direction recommended). 3. Wait 2–4 hours until surface-dry. 4. Apply second (and third if needed) coat in perpendicular direction. 5. Ensure continuous, even coverage, especially at joints and edges. Full cure usually takes 24 hours to several days.
How many coats of transparent exterior wall waterproofing are needed?
How many coats of transparent exterior wall waterproofing are needed?
At least 2 coats are recommended for standard protection. Highly porous surfaces or severe leakage areas may require 3 coats. Apply coats perpendicular to each other for better coverage.
What are the ideal weather conditions for applying transparent exterior wall waterproofing?
What are the ideal weather conditions for applying transparent exterior wall waterproofing?
Apply at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C. Avoid rainy, snowy, windy or high-humidity days. The substrate must be dry with no standing water. Protect the coating from rain for at least 24 hours after application.
Can transparent exterior wall waterproofing be applied over existing tiles or painted walls?
Can transparent exterior wall waterproofing be applied over existing tiles or painted walls?
Yes. It is commonly used on existing ceramic tiles, stone cladding and painted exterior walls without removing the original finish. Thorough cleaning and repair of joints are essential for best results.
Is transparent exterior wall waterproofing easy to apply and environmentally friendly?
Is transparent exterior wall waterproofing easy to apply and environmentally friendly?
Yes. It is ready-to-use, requires no special equipment, and can be applied by brush, roller or spray. Most modern products are water-based, non-toxic, low-VOC, non-flammable and environmentally friendly.
